Welcome Kam Lake Constituents

I hope you have been enjoying the summer months, and making the most of what our great city and territory have to offer. Whether you are new to the area or have been here for years, try to take the time to visit some of the great scenic areas we have to offer, as well as the many festivals and events.

As the Chair of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee, I will be working over the summer to keep on top of developments on issues involving the Deh Cho Bridge and supplementary health benefits. I will also keep pushing on revisions to the NWT Dog Act. We need more comprehensive animal and cruelty legislation, and I'd like to see it in force as soon as possible.

The next session of the Legislative Assembly begins in mid October. This session will focus on budgets for all the GNWT departments. In preparation for that session, the Legislative Standing Committees begin meeting in September to review the plans.

The departmental budgets are divided into two parts - a capital plan and a business plan. Members will focus on scrutinizing and providing final approval to the capital plans during the October session. The business plan portions of the budgets, which cover operational costs, go through the same process during the February session.

In the meantime, it is business as usual with constituency issues and concerns. Don't hesitate to phone or email me if you are having problems you'd like me to look into for you. My direct phone number is 669-2296, and my email address is david_ramsay@gov.nt. ca.

As always, many thanks to the residents of Kam Lake for your ongoing support.

Dave sits on the following Legislative Assembly Standing Committees:

  • Economic Development & Infrasturcture (Chair)
  • Board of Management
  • Priorities and Planning

Sincerely,

Signature
